Canberra sojourn #5 – Cooma

With Georgia over for a few days, we took the short drive out to Cooma, via Boboyan Rd, through Namadgi National Park.  What a beautiful drive!  Mostly gravel, it winds up through the mountains and woodlands of the Scabby Range, popping you out into the undulating farmland near Adaminaby.

From here we looped back through to Cooma, stopping in for a counter meal at one of the local pubs, before taking the less interesting Monaro Highway back into Canberra.

The only real downer to the day, being the number of dead wombats we saw along the roadside.  Well over a dozen, and coming from WA where we don’t have wombats, we were sad to see so many ‘sleeping on their backs with the short legs in the air’.

A short day trip, but a drive we plan to do again.
