Friday was a lazy day, the only real excitement coming when we did a quick yak out over the inner reef and in the increasingly choppy waters came across a LARGE Tiger Shark. He wasn’t interested in us in the slightest but Jules who this time was sitting in the back seat got a little stressed that we’d tip over in the chop and end up shark bait..
Saturday was leaving day, so after an uneventful trip out the track, we discovered that Jeff’s caravan door lock had rattled loose and thus he wasn’t able to open it up. We couldn’t resolve this on the track (whilst filling up the tyres) but he did manage to sort it out again in Denham where we refueled. For some reason the Denham servo has closed so the only fuel available now is from the IGA and the queue’s during holiday periods are long.. Putter and Pala had to wait over an hour for there’s but luckily we managed to swing in from the other direction from the queues and got ours quickly, not sure (don’t care really) how many people we pissed off..
Jeff and Rod headed home to Perth but Jules and I decided to hang out for a few more days at the Hamelin Station Caravan Park which is located at the bottom of the gulf, approx. 30kms from Overlander. Nice little park, very clean and facilities great but there were PLENTY of flies..
